National funding: Federal funding programme "Transnational Cooperation"

Removing economic, social and spatial differences and promoting the coalescence of Europe - these are the objectives of the European structural policy. In the context of the European Territorial Cooperation programmes (INTERREG IV B) the EU supports transnational projects helping to reduce these disparities and supporting territorial cohesion.

The Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development within the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs has taken up this approach and supports projects with thematic and spatial priorites, which are of special Federal interest, with national funds from the Federal funding programme "Transnational Cooperation". In addition to the financial support, the projects receive a special political support and are incorporated in a superior strategical and political framework. As a result, large attention is paid at the national and European level to important issues of territorial cooperation. When raising the national cofinancing the cooperation partners are in the same way supported as when qualifying the project applications and doing effective public relations.
